Watched Chronicle (with my numero uno movie buddy, meen) two weeks backs (oh! oh! oh! I won a movie poster! But I have no time to collect it. alskjdalskd) and then (simpang session +) J.Edgar (w/ meen, adrienne & v!) last saturday. The latter involved lots of avril-singalong-sessions & general fangirlisms over surprise!appearances in the film. I have to say that I really enjoyed both and that’s all I’m gonna go with lest I let out a spoiler. Anyway, I’m hoping to catch Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy and This Means War some time in the next couple of weeks but let’s see how my wallet agrees with me since I AM BROKE AS A JOKE… because the internet compels me to purchase things like:

Oh! Also went to this gig thing over at The Pigeonhole with meen and OHMYGOD it was the most pretentious thing ever. A veritable sea of plaid & weird haircuts on mismatched chairs and hahahaha the both of us considered ditching it but we braved the ~sea of hipsters~ and I’m glad we did because the second & fourth set (this is atlantis & virginia sook) were quite brilliant. Good $10 spent. Even bought merch in the end because they were pretty ridiculously affordable ($5 for the ep, $10 for the shirt):

Weekends are pretty much burnt because I’ve got chores + I’m on chauferring duty (sending/fetching iman from tuition on sat, violin on sunday + accompanying the mothernator to the gma’s house both nights) but it’s all good because at least I’m doing something, hey? I need to sort something out this weekend because whoop whoop THOSAI PARTY @ meen‘s place (eh, meen, if you’re reading this, seriously man I think I mention you in like EVERY post HAHAHAA)!

Oddly (okay, maybe not so oddly) enough, this week saw a healthy influx of “Dhu, you need to get a boyfriend/get laid” comments. And just. I. Well. As much as I enjoy the idea of dating someone, I don’t think I have the energy nor the emotional capacity to be in a relationship. I can barely repress the emotional clusterfuck that tends to ebb and flow and threatens to spill into “real life” (HAHAHAHA I am always amused by people who try to psychoanalyse me. Heck, I barely know myself at all so it’s weird to see others try to break down what they get at face value). ALSO: I’m twenty-one. What’s the rush?

In other news: my social anxiety issues are acting up again. There was this CNY shindig at work that I opted out of because the thought of being in proximity with so many people in such a small space with all that activity going on… well, let’s not go there. I know I need to be more approachable, make the first move, go out more etc. but hell I’ve had this problem for most of my life so I think me not rushing it & letting it pan out naturally is one heck of a step in the right direction for my mental health. I’m praying that this long weekend will allow me to calibrate my thoughts to find some sort of coping mechanism.

&&&: work is… good. My body’s slowly adjusting to the “rigors of a routine” but I have nothing bad to say at all about the environment or the people or anything. It’s just me. I need to sort myself out, yes.

OH MY GOD I START WORK IN SLIGHTLY OVER TWELVE HOURS! It’s a weird sensation since the only experience I have was through internship :/ In summary: Frightfully nervous but mainly tremendously psyched (: I really hope there are other new hires as well because I’d hate to be the awkward duck of the day. Then again, will probably be socially inept with or without fellow new kids.

There are times when I wake up in the daytime to an empty house, when everything seems so still, that I think hang on, did the apocalypse just arrive? Yeah, I think I’ve been watching too much tv.

Since every one seems to be doing it, last day of the year & all, in 2011 I: split my time between 2 countries, saw Amanda Palmer & We Are Scientists (I GOT TO HUG KEITH!!!), GRADUATED, got a turntable & iPad (thank you mummy & daddy), TURNED 21, GOT A JOB… Checked off a lot of great things on my mental list so yay accomplishment! Don’t think there’s anything else to say, really (:

Might be ringing in the new year with the same friends that I did last year (in Sydney!) so that’s exciting but if those plans fall through, I’m gonna spend time with my family. A win-win situation either way (:
